JJ started his career with independent feature film, “Satellites & Meteorites” which garnered a very successful festival run; Newport Beach, Santa Cruz Film Festival (Grand Jury Prize), Rhode Island & Fort Lauderdale, Washougal International Film Festival (Best Film).

JJ has been fortunate to explore his passion for drama further with director Dave Tynan (Sweet Media/Mad Cow). Together they have completed two highly successful short films, “Just Saying” which gained instant viral success and more recently “Rockmount” which centers on the life of a young Roy Keane. 'Rockmount' recently won the Teirnan McBribe Best Short Film award at the Galway Film Fleadh followed quickly by the IFTA for "Best Short Film" in 2015. This was followed by another viral success in the form of "Heartbreak" which sparked debate while also picking up the pairs second IFTA for best short film. JJ has recently collaborated with Tynan for the Irish Film Board funded feature "Dublin Oldschool" which will be released in late spring 2018.

Other short projects include RTE funded “Switch” which received its Premiere as one of only three Irish films screening at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2011 as well as RTE funded "Scratch" which enjoyed a wide festival run including JDIFF and Tribeca 2014.

JJ’s talent for documentary projects opened up collaborations with RTE & The Irish Film Board, bringing El Zorero Productions to his doorstep. Through El Zorero JJ shot the “Visiting Day” project, set in Irish Prisons. This was later followed up with the opportunity to work on “Thilafushi: Lost in Paradise” a web based documentary centered on the lives of migrant workers on the Maldivian Island of Thilafushi and most recently “Man on Bridge”, a documentary that tells the story of Arthur Fields, a Jewish Ukrainian street photographer who became a Dublin institution.

Commercially JJ has worked with various production companies and advertising agencies in Ireland on both broadcast and online campaigns. A selection of this work as well has his Music Video work is available to view online.
